Very interesting. But do you actually prove your case? What you definitely proved to me is that the human brain is very flexible, and can read in any direction. Nothing is locked in. Whatever a child grows up with will seem normal. QED: there is no orientation preference.
Those Greek letters were always being read phonetically. English letters and words should be read the same way. The problem came with the advent of Whole Word, which required that words be memorized by their shapes.

My case is proven The Greeks introduced boustrophedon and 16 palindromic letter enabling it to be visual correct in both direction. This is unprecedented in world language history and according to your version would not have been necessary. It is the way the eyes scan text that is causing the problem. This is a pure sequencing problem for left to right scanners WAS is sequenced 1W,2A,3S (WAS) if a person has eye movements that scan text from right to left, WAS would be sequenced 1S,2A,3W (SAW).
