@TheTanSeeker For a first bike get a 250! These are not for learners!

Ferraris sound like a vacuum cleaner, TL sounds like satan clearing his throat! beats it in the noise stakes too. nice to see a bike that has a four figure price tag eat a penis extension that the average working man could never own!

@andrewdabbo i second this I own a 97 tls and it was my very first streetbike. If you have experience on dirtbikes, quads, mcycles, etc and know your ass from a hole in the ground, i dont see a problem with getting it as first bike as I did. Just remember, it will only go as fast as you twist the throttle.

@TheDeltabird my 97 1000s shuts off at 151mph

@TheTanSeeker Yeah i started on a Honda bros 400 also called a Hawk GT myself.
I'm possibly going to swap my car for one of these... it'll be my first road bike though. Is this suicide, or can it be ridden cautiously without it biting me on the ass?

@TheTanSeeker The TL is a gentle giant compared to new bikes. Still has plenty of torque and mid range grunt. V-Twin motor is bullet proof , simple compared to most inline 4's. You just have to give it respect and it will look after you. If opening it up and letting it rip, just think twice, pick your time, spot the hazards... ..be careful about joining someone else's race and AS SOON as you think it's time to slow down, brake hard and early while you still have a straight line. WEAR GEAR!

I'm looking at buying one of these shortly as a switch up from a 600, i've heard there brutal so i'll take my time. Man your bike is awesome! fast as hell! Anything i wanna look out for while buying which are common problems? After reading reviews ive figured the engines are pretty bulletproof but is there anything else i need to be aware of Andy? cheers man, nice riding thanks for the vid! :)

@DandizzleUK my bike has done 102,000km (64,000 miles) and this is what I have had to work on and noticed over the years. Put it in top gear at 50Mph and open the throttle fully for about 5 seconds, will be sluggish in that gear but probably the best way to see if the clutch slips. Check for radiator fluid or oil leaks from the weep-hole and drips forming around the sump plug (see link --> youtube.com/watch?v=9h-t1VBBe2Q ) and no loud knocking when idling. No pulsing under brakes
