I've been asked when I planned to make a new clip of my rail-car.. Well here it is. With the exception of installing rail sweepers on each side up front, a brake notch bracket to hold the brakes in full apply mode and fire extinguisher this car is now ready to ride anywhere it is lawful to do so. This project is proof that one need not spend thousands of dollars to purchase and to fix up an old speeder. I built this from scratch, I enjoyed fabricating parts from scratch and seeing it all come together. I just wish I owned a very large piece of property where I could really lay out a lot of rail..... enough to make a loop It was an old MEC wood framed Lorry car when I first obtained it over 10 years ago. It was a basket case. I've rebuilt it added 5.5 HP engine and Comet Clutch with chain drive. I'm very proud of the finished product. I have 100 feet of track to have fun on and entertain guests who stop by. Yeah... I know having a reverser would be great but I don't mind a little exercise. I look forward to going on The Hobo RR rail-car trip next year. Illness and passing of a family member kept me from attending this year.

  • Thanks, I wish my neighbors would allow me to run this all through the area and make a loop. Someday I'll go on the Hobo RR annual railcar trip in New Hampshire.

  • I see youre a real railroad fan with a great eye for detail. I used to drive steam locomotives on a museum track (about 9 miles length) in the Netherlands, if i would still have been working there i would have invited you for a day on the loc but sadly i had to quit due a broken back and other medical issues.

  • epic dude!!

  • Neat!

  • That is an amazing accomplishment. My son and I were truly impressed. You have an eye for detail. Keep up the good work, and keep posting. We here in California love your work. Being originally from Connecticut, I enjoy hearing your accent, too. All the best.

  • I gotta tell ya, at first I thought you completely blew a gasket but... when you look at the whole picture, this is quite the acheivement. I'd say your love for the railroad is proudly displayed in this 100' private railway of yours and I am very impressed with this great undertaking. You have undoubtedly restored a real piece of history here & you should be very proud of your accomplishment. Congratulations & thanks for sharing your lil' piece of railroad memorabilia. All the best, Walker.
