  • The marker that marks Duwali's battle site is incorrect. It wasn't the last engagement between the Texans and the Cherokee. The last battle was actually fought near the confluence of the San Saba and Lower Colorado rivers in San Saba county. Texans killed Duwali's son and Chief Egg and 6 warriors there. I am a Texas Cherokee and my family is from San Saba.
