This Medley contains almost every song from Tori Amos' breakthrough debut, Little Earthquakes. One song decided she never wanted to be played by a guy on a keyboard and we very much see eye to eye on that. So that leaves 11. But 3 more have come to steal the spotlight, so there are 14 songs total. The 3 intruders are B-Sides or famous covers from the Little Earthquakes era. The first person to message me at my account here after midnight on Saturday, January 17, 2009, listing all the songs in the order they appear is the winner. Just to be super clear, by midnight on Saturday, I mean late Friday night. The reason there is a time-delay on entries is so that everyone has a fair chance to hunt down the songs before one of the genius snipers who I can never fool wins within 30 minutes of upload (y'all know who you are). :-)
Prize ("Earthquakes in the Garden")
I've played almost every song by Tori Amos on this channel with a few small exceptions. One day, an apprentice told me that I needed to play more Beekeeper.
"Huh?" I grimaced, "But I played that whole album in one video."
He said it didn't count. I think it does. But he was insistent. I do like The Beekeeper so I'm cool with making a few more videos specific to songs from that album. I figured maybe they should be... different though. Before we close shop on the Tori covers, I'm going to try to play a suite of songs from TBK that are radical departures from their original versions. The winner of the contest here will get to orchestrate one.
The contest winner will be responsible for a major earthquake in the Beekeeper's garden. If you win, you can pick from one of the following songs:
Parasol
Sweet the Sting
Ireland
Witness
Barons of Suburbia
Goodbye Pisces
Jamaica Inn
Toast
And tell me how you would like it to be played. The more bizarre and radical the better. You don't have to be a music expert, since I'll do the "dirty" work (hehe), but you can say, "I want you to play Toast and make it sound like chamber music from the middle ages." Or, "Play Barons of Suburbia on a Kalimba setting and make it sound Japanese." Instructions like "speed it up" or "cut a verse" or "play the chorus three times in a row!" are cool too. Even something like, "play Spark in the middle of Jamaica Inn" is ok. Sky's the limit (my ceiling I guess too) and I am not the best musician in the world but I promise I will try my best to make the video match your instructions and sound as good as I can.
The Earthquakes in the Garden will all be uploaded as soon as they're finished. By spring, I would think definitely. I have the other ones mostly finished.
Comments are allowed here but will have the Pending Approval thing added so that the answers don't end up there.
So there it is!
Thanks for participating and making this channel a fun place to celebrate Tori's music. I hope everyone is having a good New Year. -BPK
