One of my cats, Tripod, was like that with our other cats. Had absolutely no relationship to them, had never been a mother before, but you would never know unless we told you. It's a shame she's gone now, though.

yes, that is how mother animals stimulate very young babies to use the bathroom. newborns have to have this stimulation in order to survive, they can not move their bowels on their own. this behavior in the dog shows that she is taking on the role as "mom" and not just a friend to these kittens. truly beautiful.
