Phonograph: oak Victor Victrola Model 14 (VV-XIV) made in 1916 in New Jersey.

Song: If I Had You (1928) -- Music by Ted Shapiro (US), Lyrics by Jimmy Campbell & Reg. Connelly (UK).

Recording: Victor 21867-A (1929) by Irving Aaronson and His Commanders (vocal refrain by Burt Lorin). The song title also in Spanish indicates this record was also meant for a Spanish-speaking market.

Trivia: Shapiro was a long-time accompanist and music director for famed vaudevillian, Sophie Tucker (aka The Last of The Red Hot Mamas). Campbell & Connelly were a lyricist team sometimes credited as Irving King. This song has been covered by many, many top performers since its debut, and was even recorded in 2004 by Queen Latifah.

The group that did this recording, Irving Aaronson and his Commanders, was a popular East coast-based dance band of the late-1920s and early-1930s. They are well known for their version of Cole Porters Lets Misbehave, recorded a year earlier in 1928.
