So many products are manufactured by Proctor & Gamble, a company that still supports testing on animals. I decided to try to find an alternative when I came across your video. I tried your concoction for the first time tonight, but will wait until daylight to check the results. I have always used quite a bit more soap than 2 tsps per cycle. Are you using much less than the dishwasher instructions call for?

@ArizonaAdventures If I remember correctly, it's Tri-Sodium Phosphate. It's what USED to be in detergents (dishes AND laundry) before some states banned it. Its still available from Hardware stores and other outlets. I add some to my laundry, and it really produces a brighter wash. Neat combo you have though... I'll certainly have to give it a try.

@rigbym99 For my newer GE dishwasher I use 1 tsp of my homemade soap, which is the same amount for the store bought soap. I do have another fill line for more dirty loads which would be 2 tsp max. Normally I only use 1 tsp.. Thanks for watching!

Do you use the same amount in your dishwasher as you do of regular dishwaser powder?

@EyerishEyesQQ Please let me know how it went. We currently use 1 tsp, but get nice results. There are a few variables in our home though that might be unique to us where as we do not have a soft water system and have very hard water, plus I play around with our hot water heater as the weather changes so the heat of the water vaires but always above 120. We run a cleaning every 6 months with bleach and vinegar;I think I have that video on here.

You want to use Arm & Hammer "Washing Soda", not baking soda.

@samlesher I have been told that either will work since it can be hard for some to find the washing soda, but I must also say that I use the washing soda to make our liquid laundry soap now. Thanks for the comment and for watching :)

Have you ever thought to or seen the need to add any TSP to your dishwasher detergent?

@hjabcde Not quite sure what TSP is, but the only other thing I've heard of using was citric acid I believe. This has been what we've used since making this video and things are working out great.
