Not at all alone! It's actually very rare if someone keeps their mouth closed when applying mascara and I've even read that it helps relax the muscles in the face. I even see high profile makeup artists doing it.

So glad to know I am not alone! I also catch myself hanging my mouth open to put on mascara... now I know that one has nothing to do with making my lashes look good... just a crazy habit!
