Ok well....now it's a steel coaster so... :P Hope you're happy.

@ParasiticDaemon Wooden rollercoasters should be bumpy, but not as bumpy as mean streak and texas giant. Thats just not normal for a wooden rollercoaster.

Brilliant layout and track shaping!

@ParasiticDaemon Actually they're doing it because the ride was raping itself and was costing more and more in maintenance each year. So instead of totally demolishing one of their star attractions, they went for a refurbishment that will reduce the maintenance cost of the ride as well as renew interest in it.

. When the Giant was built, it had the tallest lift hill on any wooden coaster in the world, with a vertical drop of 143 feet. The original structure contained 900,000 board feet of lumber, 1,220 concrete piers and 81,000 bolts. The estimated total cost to construct the Texas Giant was five and half million dollars. It was awarded the Golden Ticket for the best wooden coaster in the world in 1999.they are going to put the red train in a museum

Look how pretty the wood was! I moved here to Texas back in '97 when I was 11 and this was my 2nd wooden coaster at the time. (First being Cyclone - SFOG). I gotta tell you, this was a legend. I'm gonna miss this beast, but with the way the construction has shaped up with the "New" Texas Giant, I may have a new favorite coming soon!

i love the blood-curdling screams! lol
I really don't understand the bad publicity this ride gets. Yeah, it's kind of rough, but it's a wooden coaster. That's what it's supposed to do. Even in its old age this coaster is still in marvelous working condition. Sure, it jumps around quite a bit, but they're closing it for a season and revamping it to hush up all you three year old girls out there who can't handle a real roller coaster.
P.S.
I was there four days ago and rode it twice and enjoyed every second of it.

@sanchezblackwolf Weak is the LAST thing I'd call this ride... Of course, if that is what you meant with your lackluster spelling... Never heard of "stroids" before.
