None of the critics (for what I read) really saw the spiritual side of Eastwood´s character. They all wrote about races and bigotry issues but none mentioned anything about a bitter and tormented man who decides, as a last act of contrition, to come to peace with his demons after the epiphanic meeting with his neighbors. About giving it all away just to go in peace.
