A more detailed look at guidetones as applied to playing a solo on bass guitar. I get into some rather heady stuff towards the end, like secondary guidetone lines (my own term), so I apologize in advance. I'm playing a bass tuned EADGC.

  • where did you get the chord D7?

  • @AlanSanderson1 You're funny...

  • whats your tuning?

  • Nice to hear such clear lessons.

  • dude you have touched on some great stuff...keep it up and Thank you for this! cheers!

  • good call man, fair comment. Most of my stuff online would back up your views and I would agree that I am mainly a "bass player" as you put it, but I am studying at uni and we do a lot of theory and improv too, and I can read, so don't count me out as a bassist either!

But thanks man, I appreciate what you're saying.

  • This is only my opinion and it's "subject to change at any time". I have always thought of a bass player as someone who playes a rhythmic line(much like a second drummer) based on octaves, maj/min pentatonics, or repetative riffs. BTW I'm a bass player myself. A bassist can play all the above plus is musically trained enough to play with a jazz band or an orchestra. Can you off the top of your head play a solo over Cmaj7 Bm7b5 E7 Am7 D7 Dm7 G7 C C#dim F7 Em7. I bet havic5 could. B happy- ur good

  • interesting comment, I'm intrigued. Would you care to explain the two?

  • I watched some of your videos, you are technically very sound. You are a very good bass player. havic5 is a bassist. There is a difference.

  • better than a real music school, and in 10 min...
