Dr. Bruce Cairns, director of the N.C. Jaycee Burn Center at UNC Health Care, is a Tar Heel fan and understands about celebrating a victory on Franklin Street. But as doctor who cares for patients who have suffered burns, Cairns is appealing to everyone to refrain from setting and jumping through bonfires. In just seconds, the injury suffered in one of these seemingly innocent bonfires can change a life forever. Cairns and colleagues at the Burn Center saw 11 burn injuries in just two years after UNC basketball victory celebrations.
