Taiko Dance

Taiko drummers at the Matsuri: A Festival of Japan here in Phoenix, AZ. The poor microphone on the camera doesn't do well in picking this up as it was an amazing performance. They invited many members of the audiance to come up and join them and w/o instruction they just danced and had some fun. Makes you realize why karateka could get away with saying their kata were just dances. So, here's the question.. can you spot the taiko performer that's the martial artist? There's a certain something to their movements that is a dead give away if you look for it.

Thanks for the info on the dance. The whole performance was awesome to watch. My family and I came with the intent of wandering around the whole festival all day but I think we just ended up planting ourselves there in the corner watching the taiko drums almost all day. It was a blast.

This is the Ogi Okesa, the festival dance of the little port town of Ogi on Sadogashima (Sado Island). The home town of KODO which some of the performers visited in 2007.
