Finally, after 14 straight days of miserable rain, wind, and flooding, the weather have finally cleared up for today with sun and partly cloudy skies and everyone in Downtown Edmonds is taking full advantage of the nice weather including myself.

The view of the Olympic Mountains from Edmonds was spectacular with the ferry running and with a BNSF Z Train that rolled by Sunset Avenue.

After the Z Train passed by, I noticed at Mukilteo that Amtrak Empire Builder #7 just went through at Mukilteo and I decided to leave my car at Sunset Avenue and went for the Amtrak Station.

Usually, the Empire Builder #7 and #8 would usually make a station stop at Edmonds, but due to yet, 2 more mudslides that occurred early this morning thanks to the previous 14 days of non-stop storms. Although they have the mudslide cleared, there was a 48 hour wait for all passenger trains that BNSF imposed for passenger safety, meaning that Amtrak and Sounder are not allowed to run until the tracks are safe on Friday.

Since all of the Train #7 passengers were all disembarked into buses at Everett, I knew that this train would be a deadhead move and will not stop at Edmonds Station just like what happened last week. I dropped my low profile tripod on the platform and stood back some 6 ft. into the platform shelter since I knew that he will be flying 50 MPH through the area.

Sure enough, AMTK 124 West flied through the Edmonds Waterfront at about 50 MPH through the Form B restriction with no stop at the station and the highball toot for me. Not to mention that the K5LA horn sounded pretty good. The Train would be going to the Amtrak Coach Yard in Seattle and tied down for 48 hours until BNSF declared the line "Safe for Passenger Operation."

After all of this, it was lunch time for me and then the trip hone.
