why is there a thansformer? and how to make the transformer on the speaker to work?

@Sido75288 It is a "70-volt line" transformer. When the amp and speakers were placed very far apart within a building, they ran a step-up transformer on the amp and then stepped it down at the speaker. It used the higher voltage to sent the signal better across the resistance built up from such long wires.

My school uses old RCA speakers from the 1950-1960's era.

ok will someone xplain this to me ok all my speaaker have that lil thing in it what is it for (the thing on the cone)

The thing on the cone is called a "wizzer". It is used to reproduce treble frequencies, like a tweeter cone built on a woofer. It does OK, but not as good as an actual tweeter.
