Because these vehicles were designed by men who truly knew and loved cars. Nowadays, it's all about weight reduction, fuel economy and safety. Run a 29 model J past the government suits and they'd probably condemn it out of hand. Just the pointy hood ornament alone would never pass muster. We've lost our nuts. But don't despair. The wheel always turns.

Just love Jay Leno collection. I would do the same thing makes lots of money rebuilt old fashion cars even from the 20's-50's.

@McLarenMercedes actually the fuel was quite expensive if you adjust for inflation and if you want a fuel efficient car try an American Austin that got 40mpg. I'll stick with cars were better in the past at least they had character and were not just a bunch of washingmachines on wheels.

great collection! thumbs up!
Dueseys were way ahead of their time. They simply exude class.
If you like Duesenbergs, visit the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana. It is in the old Auburn building. They have the largest collections of all three makers. Right next to it is the NATMUS museum in the old Cord building. About 90 minutes away is South Bend and the Studebaker National Museum where you can find tons of Studes, some Packards, presidential carriages as well as some other interesting things.

@HeadTater Yes, its awesome. I've been there 3 Summers in a row. I would rate it as one of the nations leading museums...and first among Auto Museums.

Designing geniuses. Captivating. Why is there so much lousy designing nowadays?

Thank you for your comment and for subscribing.....I will be adding more vids soon! Stay tuned. Design is so robotic nowdays....its maybe better that Duesenberg ended then rather than to be diluted by the radical cheapend designs and standards of later years. Deusenberg and Packards (from the 30's)have the last laugh in my book...they've remained ever timeless and forever young and beautiful...something humans cannot do.
