@raw415 Well actually the reason why grey herons such as this one is dipping the rat in the water is to weaken and exhaust it, they don't really have the equipment to kill like a hawk since it really comes from fish eating birds...it swallows unusual prey alive whole because its of it. Fascinating but pretty cruel to see as well.

Just incase some people don't know, there are actually many birds, and not just birds of prey, that eat other birds. And for the rat lovers on here, it's okay, nothing's gonna get your domestic rats.
