I think if I were in your shoes and put in l with difficult situation that you are in, and to deal with the ramifications of being the new kid, I would walk up to the most popular girl in the school and strike her down. That way, you alleviate the uncomfortable time period of having to gain the confidence of your new peers and cultural differences, if there are any.
