Jailbreak iPhone 3Gs 3.1.2 with custom firmware PC & MAC

[Steps to Jailbreak your iPhone 3G[s] running 3.1.2 firmware]
-These steps will work just the same on iPhone 3G and also the iPod touch- Just make sure you download the right custom firmware.
These steps are really the easiest way to Jailbreak your iPhone or iPod Touch
*If you use the wrong firmware you will get a iTunes error Ex. if you use a 3G firmware instead of a 3Gs firmware*
*If your iPhone or Touch is not already jailbroken and you try to use a custom firmware, you might get the 16xx errors, so you will need a MAC at that point to do the last process or use blackra1n if you have a ligit sim because blackra1n will update your baseband, but with iPod touch it doesn't matter**I Am not a FAN of blackra1n** lol

Tools need to complete Jailbreak
1.iPhone 3Gs
2.Custom Firmware (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore_NonActivated.ipsw) AT&T Subscribers
. (iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore.ipsw) Non AT&T Subscribers Ex. T-Mobile etc.
3. iTunes 9.0.1
4. Firefox Browser [Other browsers have trouble downloading firmwares]

{Phase 1}
*Go to http://www.iphonefix.de/2010.1/?id=downloads&SID=72e8d0659f67ec721a6e5293...
*Click on [Connect to iPhonefix FTP HighSpeed] under FTP Access.
*Click on Firmware Custom System
*Download your custom Firmware [Best if saved on your desktop]

{Phase 2}
*Open Itunes 9.0.1
*Connect your iPhone 3Gs via USB and Itunes will detect it
*Press and hold Shift[PC] or Option[MAC] and click RESTORE
*Go to your desktop and click on the custom firmware
*iTunes will backup your device and then start the restore process
*After restore is complete if you with AT&T Itunes will activate your phone - Non AT&T will already be activated
*iTunes will now ask if you want to restore from back up or setup has new phone (Your Choice)
*After iTunes completely set up your iPhone you will have Cydia/Icy on your phone
*Jailbreak Complete.

{Unlock Process}
[IMPORTANT]- If you update your iPhone to 3.1.2 via itunes without a custom firmware or use blackra1n your baseband will be updated to the newest updated baseband 05.11.07 and you won't be able to Unlock your iphone until someone creates a baseband program to downgrade your baseband.

*To Unlock your iPhone turn off 3G under networks and then go into Cydia and do all the changes, Cydia will close - Go back into Cydia
*Click on MANAGE - Click Sources - Click repo666.ultrasn0w.com and do install
*After you install Ultrasn0w turn off your iPhone completely & Reboot
*Turn your phone back on, don't login just yet -Disable your sim password from your carrier phone *Remove the AT&T Sim and insert your carrier sim and wait for the iPhone to detect the sim and there you go [Unlock also]
**Remember do not turn on 3G*

Alright. When you restore it with custom firmware ( ON ANY IPHONE ) its going to say error. But when you go and sync it or put it in dfu mode it'll say the firmware you custom put on there.

@orapello676 I never had a problem using customer firmwares because I create my own and also if you didn't then people run into errors when they choose the wrong one.

@Youngin6one4 If you do custom jailbreak you guarantee that your baseband will stay the same and will not get update to the apple baseband that you might not be able to unlock if you want to

@lin350gg After you use spirit to Jailbreak, just use a custom firmware and follow the Shift or Alt restore method in iTunes and overwrite the spirit firmware and you should be golden.
