A patient in Pretoria, South Africa is tested with a telemedicine-compliant audiometer by an Audiologist in Dallas, Texas. The audiometer visually documents patient responses on the audiogram. Green dot = patient response within 1.5 sec after stimulus presentation; Yellow dot = no patient response within 1.5 sec after stimulus presentation. www.teleaudiologynetwork.org

  • How accurate can this be? Are the instruments in Pretoria ANSI standardized or is this presented as a 'better than nothing' case?

  • @mergfkt The device used is the KUDUwave audiometer by Geoaxon. It's a CE approved Type 2 diagnostic audiometer. Recent articles using the device:

  • Any suggestions how to go about performing aural rehab for individuals, especially children, that do present with a hearing loss after being identified using this type of audiometry?
