Google's 10 to the 100th Competition
Category: Energy
By James Stryker
Concept: Found a non-profit clean energy farm that uses current proven technologies with the goal of eventually freeing the world of the need for fossil fuels. By removing the profit motivation that leads to externalizing the environmental costs of fossil fuels, a non-profit clean energy producer could grow in a slow, but exponential fashion. All profits from energy sales would be continually leveraged to finance expansion of energy production capacity.
Benefits:
1. By continually increasing the supply of energy regardless of demand a non-profit energy farm would be constantly driving the consumer cost of energy down.
2. By providing cheap and clean energy, we would decrease the need for dirty fossil fuels and help fight global climate change.
3. By constantly expanding production capacity, a non-profit clean energy farm would provide increased demand to aid fragile clean energy manufacturing and technology companies.
Please vote for the Non-Profit Clean Energy Electricity Farm in the category of Energy.

  • The flame gulper would be a non starter for your theme, not only is it very fuel inefficient, the power output is negligible for the fossil fuel input.

I think you have most probably gone down the route of Dr Stirling, it is now proving to be a very promising solution, along with free flowing water and turbines. Imagine Niagara as a power source rather than a brain dead tourist attraction, running thousands of little hidden turbines. Every little helps.

  • I should point out that my solution is focused only on the financing of massive scale clean energy. The development of the technologies used would be left to the market. The clean energy farm would simply buy a selection of the most cost effective clean energy solutions currently available each year. The farm would provide consistent demand for the current most cost effective proven technologies...

  • I wish I could understand what was said. I'm deaf... but your submission looks like a good idea.
