Hi,
Would this guitar function tuned to a low spanish E type tuning (BEBEGsharpB) and work well for slide? Also it it possible to avoid the octave strings whilst finger picking, and if necessary remove them or would the 6 string version be a better option?
Sorry for all the questions but it is a 3 to 500 mile trip try one.
Wonderful music by the way, it really moved me. You looked as though you were really enjoying the sound.
Regards
Chris

Is this a hapa song?

I love this guitar and the arrangement. Can't afford one right now but will find a way...
Meanwhile I've tuned my 1982 Balladeer down to CGCGAD and am learning the tune. It may not have the octave sound but it does sound goooooood!
Nice one Doug!

I was wondering what this instrument was capable of and now I know.
Beautiful playing Doug, kudos.

I wondered what this guitar really sounded like, after the AG report/review. I want one now, but I won't play it as well as you do. Thank you, great sound and playing. Cheers... Mike
can you play a baritone guitar through a regular guitar amp?
TravisRinker 1 year ago
@TravisRinker Sure, tho something capable of reproducing the low end will do it justice a bit more. I think in my video demo for Acoustic Guitar, I played it through my AER Acousticube, a very small amp.

Beautiful music, expertly played. Congrats! Excuse my ignorance but could this not be done with, say, a Taylor 12 string Leo Kottke (for instance) with some strings removed and tuned down?

@WhiteLakeDan In theory, you could tune any guitar down, maybe with heavier strings, but baritone guitars are designed to be tuned down, with a longer scale for better intonation and also a deeper voice. You could certainly mimic the string arrangement by removing strings from a 12-string, but the string spacing wouldn't be optimal. Still, a good way to try it and check out the effect!

@mcchung This tune is in AEAEF#B, so it doesn't fit will into a book about DADGAD :-) I actually never tabbed this tune out, sorry.
