The date for the Presidential Election in Taiwan was set to January 14th, only a week before the Chinese New Years eve celebrations and holidays.
Everyone knows that around this time everybody in Taiwan is very busy.
While waking through Taipei city on election day, we noticed that every construction site we passed by was busy. Before arriving home I filmed a couple of those and started interviewing the workers. Almost all of them refused talking into the camera and telling their story in public.
It has been on the media in Taiwan for some time that the students have a similar problem. All university students have big examinations and many of them are too busy going to the voting booth.
This was most like in favor for the current President Ma Ying-jeou who will almost surly win the 2012 election.
A lot of fear mongering played into the Election as well.

  • I have a question, if the KMT lost today would you make this video or post this video?

  • @akt5131

    That's a good question!

I was editing this video before the first results were on TV, and uploading it around the time the first results were out.

Therefore, the outcome of the election did not matter at all to what I was doing.

  • @akt5131 Sorry for adding this a little late.

    Counter-question,

If the KMT hat lost the election would this video receive so many thumbs down?

  • @davidcandlelight A mix of both last I heard. And yes I do find it amazing that they couldn't set a voting date that pleased every single person in Taiwan LOL.

  • @davidcandlelight

To be honest, I don't think 6 thumbs down or 2 thumbs up, tell us much.

  • hey pal, why don't you report this to the UN or any international organizations or government who might care and ask for foreign military intervention to get rid of Ma and his gangsterish KMT entirely? huh?

  • @davidcandlelight Also just because you are rich doesn't mean that you are automatically a member of the KMT. I know Taxi drivers and waiters and waitresses that supported the KMT because of it's message. Besides there are a lot of rich people that support the DDP. Why??? because they are the only party that takes bribes. And who has money to give them bribes..........Drumroll please......the RICH PEOPLE.

  • @davidcandlelight Let's talk ethics too about the DDP, because it was the DDP is possibly the most corrupt party in the world. A former chairman of the party told Tsai to admit that she was gay, so that she could have a same sex partner, because according to Taiwan "law" the government cannot monitor the same sex partner from taking bribes.

  • @davidcandlelight you only got 5 thumbs down, that's not a lot. If the KMT lost the election i bet it would be the same. Because you're basically whining now about how much you think it is unfair. when it's not. If the DDP knew that it was going to be tough election they should have worked harder to spread their message. It's like college if you know that you have a tough professor, what do you do? you work harder, right. You don't whine about how you have the toughest professor in the school.

  • @davidcandlelight however with the high voter turnout, it does make the point this video is trying to make look like horseshit doesn't it? =)
