The one and only Googoosh. Here is a rare recording of the multi-talented persian diva singing in English. The song is called "Want Ads" and it was recorded in the 70s. This song is a cover of the all-female Motown trio The Honey Cone( who knew Googoosh had such soul?) LOL...
Many thanks to www.googoosh.tv for the images used to make this video.

  • can somebody says when what year she sang this song i never heard it before

  • @maniijeh in the early 70s... I'd say 1972-73

  • if we agree she's not arabic let's also agree that she's turkish

  • @curiousdimo Googoosh is ethnically Azarbaijani... but she was born in Tehran, Iran (on Sarcheshme Street) and considers herself Iranian (she has said this numerous times... even last week on her show Googoosh Music Academy "I, like many Iranians, wish I could sing in my home country Iran). I hope this puts an end to this debate.

  • This is good - very soulful. I'm going to hunt down this tune and play it as part of my soul collection. Is there any more Arabic soul?

  • Googoosh is actually a Persian/Iranian singer not Arabic. She did cover a few more Motown classics in the late 60s early 70s (like "Respect" and "Gonna Take You Higher")... Thanks and good luck!

the way that these mullahs have ruined my family

i will never be able to forgive them for what they have done

i think they need to go to school, not to irans schools but get a proper education, they have messed up with the whole system and i dont think anyone will forgive them for that.

  • googoosh you are WONDERFUL :) <3

  • @mrmagassi

you bring up a good point, we have the right to choose our own nationality. Especially with so much ethnic lines crossing, the only clear identification is one with nationality and not so much with ethnicity.

  • I think she does an amazing job. At first I had to listen twice to make sure it wasn't the original. She sings her a** off!

  • @mrmagassi :dont make mistake she is from persia but not a persian , she is azeri turk you can read about it even in wikipedia ))))

  • @mrmagassi she is not Persian actually, she is Azeri who born in Iran :)

Because we are NOT English speakers, It takes a while to learn how to change accents.
