A CGI-Quality Animation covering the true origins of the flood according to Halo: Cryptum. Before the Forerunners even encountered the flood, an Ancient Human Empire discovered a Precursor Capusle containing fine powder. This powder gave rise to the adaptable parasitc life form that threatened the existence of life in the galaxy at least 3 times. Much of the animation depicts space engagements between the Ancient Human Empire, the Flood, and the Forerunners.

Note: Credit for San'Shyuum ships goes to Bungie and iHalo, forgot to put that in the credits.

I just finished reading Halo: Primordium and among other very suprising information that blew my mind, it seems that the immunity that the ancient human empire developed isn't really a true immunity - the central flood intellegence (spanning across multiple graveminds) decided not to infect some of them, due to reasons you can find in the book. At least according the the Captive (the last Precursor). This goes against previous depections of the flood as being all-consuming and apathetic so Im not sure how far this goes in the canonical perspective. Since some events from Halo: Primordium seem to provide the basis for the story for Halo 4 (according to 343industries), it can be assumed that this information is somewhat canon. It is stated that the translated AI stream that the events in the book is told from may have translation errors, but if it is fully canon, then what I said about the humans developing a cure may be incorrect. Just wanted to let you know :P

  • Humans were thought to be a bi-product of the Pre-Cursor experiment to create the Perfect Life Form. They mistook the Flood for the perfect life form (Or maybe they are actually perfect) this is why the Forerunners refused to kill The Flood. The Precursors then set one 'Chief' in charge of the Flood. He was mentally linked to all forms created.

  • @WhywouldItypethis

Wow, you really do know your halo canon. I apologize for the errors in this video, I made this before Halo: Primordium came out. That's interesting that the Timeless one was a "chief" among precursors, perhaps he was the one left behind (when the remaining precursors escaped from extermination by the forerunners) to watch over how the human race deals with the flood?

Expecting a lot of this story in Halo 4 :P

  • your voice makes me want to kick a baby in the face

  • @Dabigbang69 Please don't actually do that.

  • This was a great video!! I also really like the music you implemented into it. I kow where most of the music you used came from, but where did you get the music that occurs at 3:30 and 10:00 minuntes into the video?

  • @Raptorcjc117 Thank you!

  • @AK48smoker, Halo doesn't kill the flood, it kills it's food. Human, covenant, you and I. Were all equally edible.

  • And the only 2 survivors with knowledge of The Flood were The Didact and The Librarian. The Didact is rumored to play a role in Halo 4. Much like 343 Guilty Spark in Halo 1

  • And, it wasn't the Forerunners that were stripped of knowledge, it was the other way around. The Forerunners stripped humans of their technology. This , as I wrote earlier, led to the collapse of Galactic Defence and the slow spread of the Flood. I'm going to read the book again but, as far as I know, it was definitely the Precursors who created the Flood and the Forerunners who created humans.

  • These humans were genetically' impressed' by the Librarian before the firing of the ring and hidden 'Behind the Shield' before being returned to Earth where they evolutionised until the stage they were at in Military Calendar 2538 when they discovered Installation 004 and 343 Guilty Spark who pronounced them as Reclaimers seen as though they were 'built' in the Forerunner's image.

  • BTW, the humans were the only ones that could hold the Flood from breaching the Galaxy, so when the Forerunners used test fired the Halo array (Or atleast one ring) on the Human and San'Shyuum planets and both races were consequently weakened, the Flood began to claim external Forerunner worlds. This was then covered up by the Master Builder but was revealed by The Didact before the 5 rings were stolen from the original 13. Following this event, the rings were fired and only 4 humans survived

  • Wow! At last, someone who knows as much about Halo as me! I'm not the only completely lifeless Halo lover in the world!

  • Very fucking interesting. I thought it was going to be a shitfest of horseshit mods and etc. but the video did impress me. However I still can't get over the ridiculous design of the San Shyuum ships. That and that laser beam in the first half of the space battles. That was a little off

  • Moral of the story: The Forerunners are assholes!
