  • Pretty good series.... However, forget the Fisch instrument devices.... They are outrageously expensive. Each one is coin specific, and they are not engineered well enough to detect tungsten powder fake gold.. for $40 you can get a digital scale and digital calipers and measure yourself... Why spend 100's for those plastic toys??? As for high density=rarity... false---- titanium is light and expensive and lead is heavy and cheap... Most important--forget Fisch to detect high quality fakes

  • Couldn't someone just measure the diameter and thickness of say silver eagles and then weigh them on a digital scale and make sure they are a troy ounce? It would be very, very hard to substitute part of the silver with other elements, while keeping it the same size and correct weight.

  • krugerands are the world standard gold coin. they have copper in them for strength, to keep them from scratching, plus 1 oz of gold. the american gold eagle is patterned after the krug. the can. maple is 99& gold and is softer. so don't be paranoid about krug's they are known and appreciated as the standard bullion coin.
