The robot was built and programmed to explore a closed unknown room, such that it would build the map of this room. The robot has an ultrasonic sensor capable to measure distances between 0 and 255 cm with a precision of -/+ 3cm. This sensor calculates the time necessary to hit an object and turn back ( like an echo ). The sensor is placed on the superior part of the robot and has a motor attached which helps it to make rotations by -/+180, required for the exploring process At first, the robot searches the closest wall, aligns parallel with it and then starts its movement along the walls of the room, building its map. It stops when it gets back in the starting point, or when 3 minutes pass. The program saves in a file some coordinates which are used to build the map. Iaru Sorin, Ciubotariu Tudor, Cimpean Radu, Danci Robert.
