James Spader Joins "The Office"

On Wednesday July 6, 2011, NBC announced that James Spader will be joining "The Office" full-time. Spader will reprise his role as Robert California, an "uber-salesman that has a power to convince and manipulate, like a high-class weirdo Jedi warrior," says executive producer Paul Lieberstein. He will be replacing the chief exec played previously by Kathy Bates.

Spader, 51, won three Emmy Awards for his role on the TV drama "Boston Legal." Lieberstein continued, "James has an energy that is completely his own, and The Office has no tools for dealing with this guy. We're thrilled he's joining our cast. The 8th season premiers on September 22, 2011.

he isn't replacing Michael guys, he is becoming the CEO not the regional manager...he is replacing the lady that kept coming in telling them they needed to find a new regional manager. That being said they haven't announced the new regional manager yet.
