I realize that the originals are better, but if it weren't for Star Blazers most of us would have never been introduced to the story of Space Battleship Yamato in our youth. We would have discovered it in our adult lives on YouTube and missed out on all the fun of taking it all in as a child.

@demonlordpiccolo But the question is about planets in intergalactic space. I think it may be possible, but lone planets(or star systems) are surprising to me, too.

@Restitutus Actually, astronomers keep detecting planet-like bodies in star systems far away from earth.
