The tests are very annoying the first time you're playing.
The first one, I had no idea what I did right everytime I passed it, and most often I just got my head chopped. You're supposed to click on the small stone that's brighter than the rest of the ground.
The second one is easy if you know how to read.
The third... dear Lord, it was annoying. I thought there was some trick to it, but you just have to click on the other end right away as you enter the screen, because if you move even a bit up or down, you'll fail. The bridge is about a pixel wide and you're on the right level when you enter. If you wait around, the game moves Indy a bit so that you'll fail anyway, so you have to go over the gap fast.

Choosing the Grail... with the original game came a "real" Grail Diary that had several pages about what the Grail might look like, taken from different articles and scripts. Naturally in 2009, I didn't get the Grail Diary (people like to keep manuals, maps and even game covers when selling used games, so why not a Grail Diary) so I was a bit bummed. I had to download a pdf file online to pass it without going through the tests several times (the game starts you back at the Donovan shooting Henry if you fail, no game over).

The Grail is found by first looking at the inscriptions in Venice. They mention 2 different possible descriptions for what the Grail looks like. Then in the Brunwald castle the painting in the vault shows if the Grail glows, and then you just have to check which one of the two descriptions in the real Grail Diary mentions glow. If the painting shows no glow (like in this run) the description that mentioned no glow is the right one, and it further described the Grail to be a Ceramic bowl with some sort of writing. There, the right Grail.
If you choose unwisely, Indy ages and blows up. Then the game returns to the shooting and Indy just says "Be back in a jiffy!" and enters the first test again.

There's also different endings to the game, from what I gather based on both what you choose to do with the Grail and how many IQ points you got in the game.

  • Because in the movie ELSA LIVED! I don't know what movie but lets just roll with it.

  • There are different endings, and in one Elsa grabs the Grail and dies.

  • 2:56 - 3:03 WTF!!!! invisible bridge? i wonder if there's any explanation for that.

  • It's in the movie. Test of faith I think, was leaping from the lion's mouth or something to the other side, and the gap was far too large to jump over. Indy just closed his eyes and stepped over the edge, and then realized that there was a stone bridge there that looked like it was a part of the wall on the other side.

It's been years since I watched the first 3 movies. My VCR broke a long time ago.

  • ah pretty cool but did you just finished in a day? or while uploading H2?

  • I finished it in one evening.

see all

  • @busterflex 20 years not 29....sorry

  • @busterflex sorry, that was posted 2 years ago on my old account, when I really didn't know shit about gaming history. But being born in 1995 and growing up with all consoles especially N64 and PS1 you gotta cut me some slack.

  • @Transmorph667

  • @xenocide8

Ooh mate..you know nothing about gaming history, right? This game came out more than 29 years ago...It came out for DOS-PC in CGA,EGA and VGA, Amiga, FM-Towns and some others I can't think off right out of my head..

  • @Suprkit

Even in the game she falls to death..if you choose to....And than you can save the grail with your whip...or try to pass the seal and die ;-)

  • I don't know what the problem was with the bridge. I just clicked on the door...and never failed...

    ;-)

  • Choosing the grail always scared the crap out of me as a kid.

  • @GoucheGizmo in the movie elsa DIES!!!!!

  • That stinking bridge was impossible.

  • @GoucheGizmo She falls to her death in the movie, because she passes the seal and the whole place falls apart. Then Indiana tries to grab it and his father(Henry Sr.) tells him to "Let it go".
