Just a short clip of my break in I use. On a new engine I raise the idle a tad from factory, richen the bottom up and let it idle a full first tank. Then I let it cool completely down with the piston at BDC. Then I idle one more full tank. Then I start to get close to race tune for a couple tanks with it on the ground not doing any long high throttle runs on these two tanks. 5th tank I let her rip. I ALWAYS preheat the engine to around 200 degrees before starting. I prefer to preheat it all the way to 10 tanks of use.

  • Why did you leave the glow plug in the whole time ?

  • @taz1175

Because I had the bottom end so rich for break in that it would cut off without the igniter on the glow plug. I like to have it real rich when idling the first tank as you can tell by the big stream of smoke. By the second tank I remove the igniter and lean the bottom a tad so it will run without the igniter.

  • New motors don't like to run rich. Don't rely on a glow ignitor to keep your motor running. This means you have too much fuel running through the motor. High lubrication is bad for heavy pinch.

  • @Losiracer4life Oh okay, right on, that's cool.
