@matthiu1 @matthiu1, the camera was deployed from the MESA cabinet in the side of the Lunar Module's descent stage. It was pre-aimed on earth at the ladder. Armstrong pulled a lanyard at the top of the ladder before stepping down. That lowered the cabinet and turned on the camera. He later moved the camera 14 meters away onto a tripod for the second shot. It was all explained before this ever happened, because it was carefully planned.
