This video shows you how to spoof your MAC address when using Windows 7. The method set forth in this video works essentially the same way in Windows XP.

NOTE: When spoofing your MAC address, only use characters from the number set 0-9 and letters from A-F. Also, never put "0" in any set except the first set (where you should always put "00")

  • very nice vid , i just wanted to ask if that can do any damage to your network card ? and will that work to bypass a hardware bann from a gameserver or is it just for disguise ur identity when surfing on websites ???

  • @knight0582,

No, doing this does not harm your network card...you just have to remember to delete the NetworkAddress registry entry when you want to go back to using your real MAC address. Nothing is changed in a permanent way when you do this. I have done it many times with no problematic side effects.

  • As for what this can be used for, I have used it to get past network blocks where my computer has been specifically blocked by my network administrator.

  • As for hardware bans, yes, this is supposed to bypass hardware bans. I know only a small amount about how game servers do this, but I say that a ban from a game server is just as likely to be a ban on your network's "outside" IP address as it is to be a ban on your MAC address. That being so, you may or may not bypass a game server ban using this method, but if the game server is using a hardware ban, then you probably will bypass it when using this method.

  • Thankyou!

  • @LegitFish Thanku sir For your Response.Thanks

  • However, when your computer connects to your ISP it sends other unique attributes besides its MAC address. It sends your computer's name, your computer's brand of operating system, whether it is 64 or 32 bit, etc. All this is to say that even though you (your real computer) will not be matched to your activity under your spoofed MAC address automatically, a human being could look at the two (supposedly different) computers and see the similarities. In that case you would be suspected.

  • @gurpreetsingh223 ,

Regardless of what your MAC address really is, your ISP will be able to track your activity. That is, your ISP can track any activity that goes through them. But I get the impression that what you really want to know is whether or not your ISP can "match" your spoofed MAC address (i.e., your internet activity) to you (i.e., your computer). The answer is: Not for certain.

  • sir I want to know if i spoof my mac address than can my isp (internet service provider) know my original mac address. I want to know if i spoof my mac address than can my isp track my downloading or which websites i surf. Please response me. Thanku.

  • @JShahlo

Awesome. I am glad to help.

  • @LegitFish I came back to your vid, just did what you said and it worked..thanks lots :)

  • @JShahlo ,

I can clear things up for you if you can give me some details describing the hitch in your procedure. However, given what you have already said, it looks like all you need to do is find the NetworkAddress entry that already exists and change that. It shouldn't hurt anything to change that entry because Windows 7 does not create it by default which means it is not critical to anything except self-assigning a MAC address (which is what you are trying to do).

  • Just tried this on my computer..I got to the NetworkAddress part and it said that it already existed..kinda confused on what to do next if it keeps happening.

  • The tutorial could have put more emphasis on that point, but if you follow the tutorial starting from time 1:47, then you will most likely not be confused on that point. According to the tutorial, you are supposed to be "...looking for the name of your network card in the driver description of the folder you have open." -How to Spoof Your MAC Address in Windows 7 (Concise Version), time 1:47.

  • very nice, but you need to remember that you are not connected to a wireless network therefore your viewers need to know that there are a few things that change when it comes to wireless network adapters. For example your Network interface card is found in the folder 0007 but a wireless adapter may be found in a different folder such as 0009. Show me how to do one for a wireless NIC my friend, then i'll admit that you have skill.
