When he engaged the launch control, this was actually the first video I've seen where an M5's LC control system actually work. Usually you just see a lot of wheel spin and an M5 hitting 60 MPH in 8 seconds.

(Exaggerating on the 0-60 part, but hopefully you get what I mean)

dude u dont need to explian these dumb americans what smg stands for..im sure if they keep thinking its auto there just americans its not there fault..there cars is not up to technology..as u can tell by there american cheap cars..such as ford gm so forth..cheap enterior..there so sad..that chrysler and dodge engines are actually mercedez benz enginered.so no need to explain to those dumb ox lol

i love it how people hating on the smg..kuz its cooler then a manuel..smg have both of best worlds..manuel is played out..even and quarter mile drag race most owner switch to auto..weather its powerglide or what not..auto owns if tuned right

why people get confuse with automatic and SMG....dont be mad kuz automatic is popular..u can eat while driving tex while driving..finger u chick while driving hold hands while driving..talk on phone while driving...give the middle finger in heavy traffic while driving.dont have to worry bout stop n go in congested traffic..its a smg in between auto and manuel..more on the manuel..smg rocks

To all the idiots that don't understand gearboxes and the differences of them. The SMG E60 M5(this one) has a twin disc clutch and shift rods that move shift collars that are actuated by a hydraulic pump. It shifts in 150ml sec on the highest shift setting, which is faster than any person can shift a manual rowbox. When you grab the paddle it "bangs gears" which is why the camera is jumping. It is an automated manual tranny like Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, etc. It's Race car S#$% dumbasses.

so when ferrari make an automatic gearbox in their cars its not a problem but when similar gearbox is in an m5 all of a sudden it's a problem????

I've had a manual m3 and an smg m3 and the smg wins hands down.  It's an awesome bit of kit.

Why are people saying "auto" m5? SMG = sequential MANUAL gearbox. Granted its not as much fun as a traditional gearbox and doesn't require as much skill, IT'S NOT AUTOMATIC.

@adnanalagic It's a sequential manual in the M5. Btw which RS6 is it you own with a manual? Seeing as they were both automatics...
