Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday that the social networking site is now home to 500 million users worldwide, in contrast to a recent user survey reporting that Facebook users have become less happy with the site during the past few years.

Zuckerberg wrote a blog post thanking Facebook users and provided statistical updates showing that users are visiting the site more often and spending added time producing content.

The stats showed that half of the site's users log on daily; users generally post pictures and links to videos, news updates or to other content approximately 90 times per month; users on average have 130 friends; and three out of ten users browse the site via their phones (these users are also twice as active as users who log on from PCs).

A related Facebook controversy in the headlines involves a lawsuit by Paul Ceglia, a businessman from New York, accusing Zuckerberg of giving 84% ownership of the company to him in an April 2003 contract allotting Ceglia a majority of ownership in the company.

Ceglia alleges that at the time, Zuckerberg worked for him as a software coder.

The Washington Post reports that Facebook lawyer Lisa Simpson told US District Court of Buffalo, New York Judge Richard Arcara that the company is "unsure at this moment" if Zuckerberg did, indeed, sign the agreement.

Zuckerberg will appear on World News Tonight with Diane Sawyer Wednesday night to discuss his company.
