Architect: Elan Architect, Bakhtiar Alam - Late 1800s residences in various Victorian styles were built by prominent citizens on West Union Street, which became Burke Countys preeminent showcase of residential architecture. The Miller-Beyer House, constructed circa 1895, remained unoccupied and deteriorated for a long period of time. The Beyers decided to rehabilitate it in accordance with State Historic Preservation Standards, which prohibit any alteration of the primary spaces. The designers solution met the clients functional requirements through minimal articulation of secondary spaces. The new addition is compatible with the existing architectural features. The front veranda, roof and railings were restored to their original size and details.
