I was 9 years old also, but living in Lagos Nigeria. So I didn't here much about it, nor did I even know who the Beatles really were then. Seemed like some kind of priests or something at the time to me.
I remember in the early 80s watching a doco on them when I was about 9 or 10 and hearing that one of them had died from something. At the time I thought it was Paul McCartney, cause they were showing his face on screen playing Let it Be. I cried. It wasn't him though - it was Stuart Sutcliffe
