@ReganGin Would you tell the same thing to Guga? There's nothing wrong with a semi-western grip.

Terrible preparation for a 1hb. At the beginning I thought she was hitting a 2hb but then she let go of the other hand. I wouldn't keep doing this drill because like a bad habit, the more you do it the more it's harder to break because you have to undo it.

she might try to put her body a bit more forward during the shot in order to get all her weight into the shot and also get more power into it once she's absolutely comfortable with this shot and has time to practice with no matches in between.
Btw- a bit of forehand is always good ;)

She has talent for the game. Nice setup off the backhand wing. Well balanced as well. I found a kid that has a killer forehand. watch?v=lxTawzpVK2A

You guys have to remember this is slow motion.
For her age she's got a great start. Good preparation, good counter balance with the left arm, head still throughout stroke, etc. The straight takeback is good till she can do it from all parts of the court. Then have the tip up at the start can help build more variety (slice, left and right hooks, etc.) My only suggestion is to flatten her grip a bit since kids have a hard time letting go of the western. Good luck!

thanks, could you explain "flatten her grip"?

@tomzag What he means is to make the grip more eastern.

@AwantedNinja it means to make grip more to continental grip. good luck.

for this girl....i would suggest locking her wrist all the way through...form a L shape with your forearm being straight and the racquet out and brush up on the ball. (Henin) since right now her wrist is loose towards the end of the swing. the backswing brings her all the way over her back taking way too much time. in a fast pace rally, which i doubt she'll be in, have too much of a backswing may hurt you...but then again, you don't want to cut too much off her back swing.
