( http://heritage-key.com/blogs/malcolmj/archaeovideo-prehistoric-paintings-swi... ) Gilf Kebir is the most arid and desolate places on Earth, but thousands of years ago, the site had water and was inhabited by humans and animals. In the 1930s, Hungarian explorer László Almásy discovered prehistoric paintings in the Cave of the Swimmers, which gave a view into the life of a long forgotten civilisation. The video takes us inside the Foggini-Mestekawi cave, discovered in January 2003, and gives us an insight into its ancient, mysterious past.

  • @heritagekeymedia..Amazing video. Thanks. How old is the oldest known cave paintings site?

  • This is in Mestikawi-Foggini cave

  • Interesting paintings here. Anyone know if the new Prehistoric Channel will carry content like this, or will is just be creatures and animals.

  • @spider879 the discussion takes place over at Egyptsearch Reloaded

  • We are having a great discussion on this video and others like it concerning the land of Yam and Saharan paintings of what looks to be a forerunner of the Kemetian monster Ammit very instersting video.

Have a look-see better yet join in.

  • Is it possible the beast could very well be a now extinct animal? I'm sure there were plenty of creatures and beasts around back then that are no longer in existence. We're talking about a deeply prehistoric time period. Predating Ancient Egypt by thousands of years itself possibly.
