1974 - Dark Horse

DARK HORSE

You thought that you knew where I was and when
Baby looks I keep foolin' you again,
You thought that you'd got me all staked out
Baby looks like I've been breaking out

I'm a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I'm a blue moon
Since I stepped out of the womb
I've been a cool jerk
Just looking for the source
I'm a dark horse.

Thought that you'd got me in your grip
Baby looks like you was not so smart
And I became too slippery for you
Let me tell you that was nothing new.

I'm a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I'm a blue moon
Since I picked up my first spoon
I've been a cool jerk
Just looking for the source
I'm a dark horse

I thought that you knew it all along
Until you started getting me not right
Seems as if you heard a little late
I warned you when we both was at the starting gate

I'm a dark horse
Running on a dark race course
I'm a blue moon
Since I stepped out of the womb
I've been a cool jerk
Just looking for his perks
I'm a dark horse.

Running on a dark race course
I'm a blue moon
Since I stepped out of the womb
I've been a cool jerk
Just looking for his perks
I'm a dark horse.

  • Poor George... He worked himself really heard during this and the tour... I heard the demo of this and I like it better but this goes to show what a trooper he was through the BULLSHIT of the "music business..."

  • Love this song! Thank you!

  • Definitely not the best album of George, but certainly one of the most underrated as well!

  • @gwss4

I don't think he intentionally wanted his voice to sound like he was holding a hairball down his throat...

  • @harrisonfanalways Really? This is self produced - why call him a "trooper". My guess is he liked the sound of his voice as hoarse as it was. The public didn't. I like it. It has a Joe Cocker sound to it and George liked Joe Cocker. He allowed Joe to record his best song (Something) before the Beatles did.

  • Im a dark horse also.........

  • I agree with you 'HarrisonFanAlways'...He did so much himself....I'll love you always George.

Thanks so much for uploading this album, I have a massive collection of George's music, and only recently realized

    it is missing.
