As a demonstration video for my blog, I created this video which demonstrates the misc. functions of the tape loading mechanism of a VHS video tape recorder, model Akai VS-G858. It shows different drive functions like tape loading, playback, fast forward/rewind, stop, eject, ... always explained by a short German introduction.
I still have 3 Akai vcr's, a VS-G2300, VS-F450 and VS-j701. They all stil working an i use them everyday. The VS-G2300 is a superior machine wtih a very good picture and audio. Akai forever!!!!!!
I had one from the same range, almost identical apart from the two rotary controls on the left front panel. Great picture and sound and gave years of trouble free use. Cost me £300 from a home mail order catalogue in 1997 and finally broke in late 2005 after years of heavy use. I replaced it with a cheap £50 Philips VR-550 which is nowhere near as good.

I thought VHS machines were supposed to unthread before performing any winding?
