This is Sergei Rachmaninov's transcription for four hands piano of the Sleeping Beauty Waltz (Valse) by Tchaikovsky, what would later become the basis for "Once Upon a Dream" in the Disney movie.

Go to 0:29 to hear the famous theme.

Sorry that the two parts don't sync perfectly...it may be a bit off at the end.

Please forgive me for doing this with two different videos. I didn't have someone to play either of the parts with me in true four hand style, so I figured this would be fun to try. It's actually kind of hard to sync a second piano track to a previously recorded one, especially if there are some tempo changes.

From Wikpedia:
The Sleeping Beauty (Russian: Спящая красавица, Spyashchaya krasavitsa) is a ballet in a prologue and three acts, first performed in 1890. The music was by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (his Opus 66). The score was completed in 1889, and is the second of his three ballets. The original scenario was conceived by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, and is based on Charles Perrault's La Belle au bois dormant. The choreographer of the original production was Marius Petipa.
The premiere performance took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1890. The work is widely regarded as Tchaikovsky's finest ballet score, and has become one of the classical repertoire's most famous ballets.[1

  • @MBplaymusic Thank you so much!!!! :D

  • @missmanga08 It is faster than virtually all the orchestral versions, but the piano transcription is often played at speeds comparable to this. Just see if you can come across the Berezovsky/Engerer or the Aurora Duo versions to see for yourself :)

  • It's really good, but a little bit too fast ! (:
