On March 24, 2009, Operation Patient Access held a panel discussion on Capitol Hill to focus on critical surgical access issues. Pennie Hunt discussed the importance of recruiting surgeons to rural areas and cited personal experiences. She is executive director of the Wyoming Health Resources Network, an organization that recruits health care workers, including surgeons, to Wyoming. Currently, nine of the 23 counties in Wyoming do not have a surgeon.
