Some time in July of 2009, Diane Hayes thought it a good idea to have an event that brought together many different groups of friends from the Carolina Marina campground. A get to know each other event of sorts. Following is how it played out.

30 people were invited to an event on August 8, 2009 and nobody had any idea what it was about. All they knew was they were to meet at the campground dumpsters at 4:00pm, and have four hours available.

When they arrived, they were split into four teams, each named after a pirate ship and each with its' own color. Each team was also assigned a monitor to ensure that all tasks were completed completely and correctly. Diane and her husband Steve were two (2), Shannon and Greg McMillan (videographer and video producer) were the other two (2).

They were given their first set of instructions which was to secure the use of one (1) boat, two (2) golf carts, and meet on Gregs beach ready and loaded on the boat by 4:45pm.

Then they were given a second set of instructions which was a scavenger hunt for 10 items found on the lake, or around the campground. They could use either boat or golf cart but had to be back at the dumpsters no later than 7:00pm.

Once they all arrived back and were able to prove they had completed the first part of the game, they were then given a second task. This time it was a treasure map.

When found, the treasure was really a set of instructions printed on a golden coupon telling them the first team to arrive back on Gregs beach with the coupon would be the winner. The winnings were all the $5.00 game fees to split among the team.

About the video - they were shots taken during preparations, the placement of the treasure, each of the clues on the map, during the game, and then afterward on our deck at the awards ceremony. Enjoy!

What a day it was, this will surly become an annual event here at Carolina Marina.

Thanks Diane, great job indeed!
