This piece is in memory of Juana Irma Cisneros Ticas (de Acsencio), kidnapped September 12, 1982, by armed men during the 12 year civil war in El Salvador. She is one of thousands of people who are still missing, and who were tortured and killed during the war. Thank you for keeping her memory alive, and being part of our struggle for truth and the end of impunity.
The work will expose Canadians to the ongoing social and political phenomenon of disappeared working people in Latin America -- often little known about. This work will shed light on these issues, but despite the heavy subject matter, delicate threads of hope and survival of the spirit are woven throughout the piece.
