What a mean bassline. Funky bit of jazz and flute from Lonnie Smith off the LP Funk Reaction 1977

  • My moms used to have this album back in 77. I don't know what she did with it.

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dr. Smith Is Bad As They Come

  • I might add that I used to see Dr. Lonnie Smith play live almost nightly @ O'Hara's in Ft.Lauderdale back in the 90's.He just did traditional jazz in that setting. Not sure how the audience would've gotten to this kinda' funkiness.;-D

  • Some incredible jazz-funk was put out from 1975-1979.This cut and the stuff put out by people like Patrice Rushen...Tom Browne...Ramsey Lewis...Herbie Hancock...Roy Ayers...etc. I called it "rare groove".Thanx
