  • There is no point in """fighting""" without protections...

  • why ? The japanese did it with the bokken for serveral hundred years - different ways, same outcome ...

  • Hi zukuru, I really appreciate your videos, it's just that I personally know what it's like. It's fun to 'practice', but it's not the same to fight with protections. If your enemy is protected you will be free to hit him, not just do everything in slow motion, as the first 20 seconds of this video shows.

The japanese probably did a lot of kata with bokken, I don't really know.

Check out my videos, you can see we use some basic protection, but very useful and liberating.

  • tx, I think you picked one of the rare of the videos online, which are zero contact sparrings - majority is with gloves and fencing mask - full contact - ...

  • @zukuru

    bad example

  • @cr1tterp0wer this video is nearly 4 years old now and is showing one of our first cross over fights - I liked it.

  • The force is not strong with him

  • The bloke with the longsword was not trying to hit, and therefore going slower than he could; whereas the bloke with the 2 swords was moving almost as fast as he would normally, thus already making this vid quite rubbish and not a fair sparring match

  • That's not even Arnis/Escrima/Kali.

FYI:Sticks are just for training purposes and are just substitute for blades and daggers. You can even apply that on a pen as a rudimentary weapon on emergencies to disarm a knife.

  • Stupid child's play. No honor.

  • ahaha i always love seeing the fat guy with the pony tail swinging a sword around with no idea what he is doing. go back to your mothers basement loser

  • this is no sparring, this is bullshit. No swordfight, just stupid children tapping.

  • long live the spirit of the sword, honor loves honor,,,,,,hector

  • @lamaldinio no,its just harder to move with a heavier/longer stick. If he went full speed then he would likely miss more.

  • that was pretty terrible!

  • @hobojoe357 I Agree...Ive actually been taking modern arnis classes (for those wondering, it is the original forms of filipino martial arts) and the rattan sticks i use are quite durable. they are light but when handled properly are actually quite deadly in experienced hands
