this is a beautiful song. He's the one who wrote it and sings it a 100 times better than Kenny Rogers or anyone else. I wonder why this version didn't get as much airplay as the others did.

no melly,,its not that scene,,it was when winnie had an accident and her parents dont wanna let kevin see her,,yet after that kevin came back on cooper's house and climbed the roof to winnie's room and kevin looking,talking to winnie from ouside the window and thats when my tears fell....what a scene it was...

This song was not written (1978) for The Sting (1973) but was inspired by a scene from that movie. Many folks have misunderstood this song to be a last ditch effort to save a relationship, it's not. This is about a guy who has already been crushed by a lost love and meets his female counterpart, they spend some time together and wind up back at his place, both of them lonely. Bob is not singing to his lost love ... she's long gone. A moment's comfort from the pain ..."no one will care, girl."

wow being 19 i never grew up with this but it is all that i listen to so i feel like this music is with me considering it is just so amazing!! and that fact that millions of people going through this age can feel this song!!! wow its a masterpiece!!!!!!!!
