The San Diego Padres selected him as an outfielder with the fourth overall pick in the MLB draft and both the Atlanta Hawks (NBA) and the Utah Stars (ABA) drafted him. And even though he never played college football, the Minnesota Vikings selected Winfield in the 17th round of the NFL draft. He is currently one of two players ever to be drafted by three professional sports.

Yes, I remember. He actually had the game-winning RBI single in Game 6 of the WS off of Mark Wohlers that gave the Jays the title. I always loved and respected those Jays teams of '92 and '93. Wish we had more teams like them today.

Agree totally, Winfield is a really classy guy, and was a hell of a ballplayer back in the day.

Hello. Completely agree with you. He signed a photo for me through the mail. One of my favorite baseball players of all time, and a great person. His Winfield foundation did/does so much for underprivileged children. A great Yankee. Wish he could've played on better teams. He'll always be a winner.
